Serramonacesca: A vibrant little village just 2km from Kokopelli with two bars, two shops, a butcher, a chemist, two restaurants, a castle, an abbey and an ancient hermitage. Serramonacesca is the perfect example of rural Italia at its best. Throughout the year the village comes alive with celebrations of ancient traditions in the form of lively festas, fireworks, events & concerts where all are welcome. Never a dull moment!
Majella National Park: A stones throw from Kokopelli, the Majella National Park, with its wolves, bears and birds of prey, is one of the most exciting areas of untamed wilderness within the Apennines. Whether you are a cyclist, hiker, runner or rock climber, covering over 74,000 hectares (more than 55% at altitudes higher than 2000 metres), you will never be short of new trails or explorations.
Rock Climbing: Spread across the entire region, the climbing in Abruzzo is spectacular and relatively undiscovered outside of Italy. The climbing is chilled and relaxed and its not unusual to find yourself climbing all day long with the entire crag to yourself. Mainly sport climbing on beautiful limestone (plenty of multi-pitch trad in the nearby Gran Sasso), there is something for everyone. With routes ranging from the 4s to the 8s you will find something to learn on, or something to push and challenge yourself with.
Adriatic Coastline: With 133km of golden beaches, cliffs and creeks running along a sparkling coast that is lined with pinewoods, dotted with towns or backed by green hills, you are spoilt for choice. Whether you are looking for lively, fun-packed beaches or solitary shores, all the Abruzzo beaches contain the charm and proverbial friendliness that you will find all over the region, and some of the best beaches are just a 30 minute drive from Kokopelli.
