Kokopelli Camping Retreat,
Serramonacesca, Abruzzo, Italy
Slow down, rebalance and reconnect with nature’s rhythm and flow
Open from 20 March to 22 October, slow camping immersed in nature within the foothills of the Maiella mountains of south-central Italy. The hiking trails of the Maiella National Park are only a short walk away, and the high peaks or the Adriatic sea are only a 30 minute drive. Tents and a few small campervans only, even in high season you can escape the crowds as our numbers are strictly limited. We don’t accept group bookings and we limit the number of children to a maximum of 8 – 10 at any one time. If you don’t want to travel with all the kit, or if you’re new to camping, we have everything you could ever need here (included in the price): cooking pots and pans, plates, cutlery, camping stoves… We have a small selection of tents, mattresses and sleeping bags for hire from only €1 per night, and we also offer a “glamping” option with ready erected and fully equipped canvas tents (also available empty should you wish to save on costs and bring your own equipment)
With our chilled outlook, stunning location, peace and tranquility, Kokopelli Camping Retreat is an ideal place to rebalance, reconnect and recharge.
Self Catering Options
For a slightly more comfortable camping experience, we have fully equipped, glamping-style, canvas tents for hire. These are ready erected and can be supplied with beds, rugs, lamps, bed linen and towels, or you can save costs by bringing some or all of your own equipment.
If camping really isn’t your thing, or if you want to come in the cooler months, we have an en-suite, double room in our farmhouse at the campsite, or a lovely old house in the historic centre of nearby (3km) Serramonacesca. The house sleeps up to 6 people, has a small, fully equipped, kitchen and a small garden with a barbecue.
Exploring the Wild heart of Abruzzo
With our passion for sharing our knowledge of the hiking, biking, climbing, and exploring off the beaten track, anyone who stays with us will have access to maps and self-guided hikes to quickly find their way around and get to know the wilder side of Abruzzo.
For airports, Pescara is the closest (35 minutes) otherwise Rome is 2.5 hours.
For trains or buses, Chieti Scalo or Manoppello Scalo are our closest options and from here you can take a bus to our village of Serramonacesca. We can help out with advice on timetables if you need.
We also offer a pick up service from Pescara Airport, or Chieti/Manoppello stations.
